Once Upon a World Poster Collection

Brief

Design a set of posters illustrating how stories begin and or end in different languages around the world.

Project Type: Poster Design

Depending on where you're from, you might have grown up with a phrase other than “Once upon a time” when you were told a story. For example, Persians begin telling a story with the phrase “One was there and one was not under the blue dome. No one was there but God.”
This project consists of a total of 10 posters, each depicting a phrase from a different language.

The color of the background of each poster was chosen based on an important color that represents the culture that speaks the language. The posters were put in pairs to avoid using too many colors.

The animals that are portrayed in the posters are also of a breed that largely exists in the part of the world where the language is spoken. Like the Catalan wildcat and the Bengal goat.

Process
The project consisted of four rounds of sketching to nail down the final look. The final posters were painted digitally in Procreate and then moved to Illustrator to add the text.
The following are some preliminary sketches.
